Saint-Germain-des-Prés is for a long time a district in the particular charm at which the mystery does not stop amazing and inspiring numerous authors.

The palace was built in the early 1600s for Marie de Médicis, the widow of King Henri IV. Today, it's the home of the French Senate. The gardens are a public park (the largest on the Left Bank).

The Pantheon was built as a church between 1764 and 1790. Its huge coupole dominates Paris from the top of the Sainte-Geneviève hill on the Seine left bank.
During the 1789 french revolution and shortly after its construction, the Panthéon was turned into a memorial to illustrous frenchmen.
It now houses among others the remains of Pierre and Marie Curie, the physicists who discovered the radioactivity, of Voltaire, Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Victor Hugo.

The Orsay Museum was redeveloped in the old Gare d'Orsay, built by Victor Laloux and inaugurated in 1900 for the Universal Exhibition. It was registered as a listed building in 1978.
The museum was opened in December 1986 and was dedicated to all artistic production from 1848 to 1914. Paintings, pastels, sculptures, furniture and objets d'art, photography and documentary objects reflect the richness and diversity of this era.
